What are the reasons for tungsten disc ring fracture?
The common problems with tungsten rings mainly include brittleness of the tungsten electrode caused by excessive current usage, flush fracture, and easy cracking during sharpening.
The main reason for the brittleness and uniform fracture of tungsten electrodes is prolonged use under high current conditions. When the temperature reaches the recrystallization temperature of tungsten grains (1600 ℃), the tungsten grains become round, long, and coarse, leading to the brittleness of tungsten electrodes. The solutions include adjusting the current size, avoiding prolonged use under high current, and selecting appropriate tungsten electrode diameter and angle.
